Let Ensemble Morfeo introduce you to the the world of the sleep and dreams, with works ranging from classics to undiscovered gems. From Brahms’s expressions of satisfied longing and the gentle cradle song (Zwei Gësange op. 91) to Frank Bridge’s romantic settings of Love, Life, and Death, this trio explores the evocative colours and “other worldly” qualities of the mezzo-viola-piano combination.
Critically acclaimed Ensemble Morfeo were brought together in their student years in the melting pot of London. David Aspin is principal violist of the Orchestra of Opera North and a viola tutor at the RNCM. Joanna Gamble is a versatile artist with talents embracing comedy to pathos both on the Opera stage and in chamber groups.
Our next appearance is October 30, at St Giles’ Church, Pontefract, 1:05 p.m. featuring works by Elgar, Rebecca Clarke, Vaughan Williams, and Benjamin Dale.
